Children will be encouraged to use their imagination to express their own individuality and develop their creativity, while also building confidence and strength. Teacher: Rachel Sheil Rachel has been teaching for over seven years and has recently completed her MA in Dance Performance at UL. She has taught Hip-Hop in Ireland, the UK and San Francisco and has also been successful in several Irish Intervarsity competitions. She hopes to continue her passion here in Limerick and share all the knowledge she has accumulated. Saturdays 2 Sept - 21 Oct 2017 12pm-12:45pm Dance Limerick Studio Fee: €60.00 for 8 week term **Places for next term will go to current participants first. Sat 14 & Sun 15 October Dance Limerick Performance Space (St John's Church), John's Square, Limerick Cost €140/120 concession or €100 if booked before 31 July Alex Mackay is a dancer and artist who is known for light and depth in her teaching. Using few well-chosen words, and opening a sense of wonder. She is embodied, energetic and creative and loves to dance with the group. She is strongly connected to the birth place of her teaching in Manchester and Liverpool, where community continues to spring from the 5 Rhythms classes, twenty years later. Gabrielle Roth called her Raven Sister. Joseph Caswell is a dazzling musician who has played music for 5 Rhythms for many years on unique percussion rigs and instruments from all around the world. He has played for Gabrielle Roth and Jonathan Horan. Playing music professionally since the age of thirteen, he has also investigated ancient tunes and sounds and made instruments himself. Alex and Joe are delighted to return to Limerick with a van full of instruments for Heartbeat. They live in the woods of West Wales with their rock-n-roll son and their feisty pixy daughter.

Rachel shares techniques she has researched and learned to provide structured improvisations (contemporary) and a freestyle environment (urban styles). Every class is different, building skills consistently, but in different ways. Dancers develop skills around body-awareness and perception, along with awareness of space and people around them. Through group improvisations, working in small groups and pairs, the class focuses on moving, expressing through movement and, of course, having fun! This class is suitable for boys and girls of any ability. Please email info@dancelimerick.ie if you would like to be added to the waiting list for this class** Designed to give our youngest dancers a head start, this Dance Club for Tots explores movement through music, stimulating imagination and promoting creativity, while participating with a parent/caregiver. This lively class explores moving as a group, telling stories through movement, rhythm exercises and improvisation. Time is spent learning to follow directions as well as free expression time which allows Tots to explore and develop co-ordination, all while having fun! Teacher: Fiona Marie Booth Fiona is a voice and dance artist/teacher based in Limerick. She graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance with an MA in Festive Arts and a BA (Hons) in Voice and Dance, specialising in contemporary dance. Fiona has gained considerable experience internationally, having studied Kinesiology at California State University where she practised jazz, ballet, hip-hop and modern dance, and having taught at the Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn, New York as part of Dance for Parkinson’s Disease. Classes include movement collaboration with music and imaginative play, as well as a chance for tots to practice dancing with their friends. Parents/guardians will also love participating with their tiny dancers! Teacher: Rachel Sheil Rachel graduated with a BA Hons (First) in Voice and Dance from the University of Limerick, specialising in Contemporary Dance. An international teacher and choreographer, Rachel has taught throughout Ireland, England and the US, and has numerous TV appearances to her credit, both nationally and internationally, performing commercial and contemporary material, including the GAA All-Star Awards. Dance Limerick exists to support the development of professional dance artists within the Limerick region and beyond.

Through a combination of performance platforms, residency opportunities, master classes, talks and lectures, Dance Limerick will advocate for artistic dialogue and exchange. In collaboration with dance artists across a range of practices, Dance Limerick will promote the creation of new and innovative work and will devise programmes of access, engagement and participation for the wider public.

Based at the premises of the former Daghdha Dance Company, Dance Limerick houses offices and a fully equipped studio space along with a separate performance venue known as the Daghda Space
