The Feldenkrais Method is a form of somatic education, which enhances our innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement.
During class you'll be guided through gentle yet novel movement patterns - you'll usually be lying on the floor, sometimes sitting. Through engaging your curiosity, sensing yourself and using your imagination you'll learn how to increase the ease and range of your movements. This process can alleviate muscular tension and pain and improve your posture, flexibility and co-ordination. This will have an effect on your vitality, your self-image and how you act in your everyday life. Benefits also include improved performance in activities such as running, swimming, dancing, playing an instrument and singing.
These classes are for adults of all ages and movement abilities. Please bring a mat or blanket and wear layers of warm clothing.
Kate Hilder is a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner who completed her teacher training in Sussex in the UK. She has a background in physical theatre, which she teaches and performs across Europe. She has recently moved to Ireland and is currently teaching dancers and singers at the University of Limerick.
