PALIMPSEST: 31st AUG – 14th SEPT
Palimpsest, a two-week installation, book-ended by two performance evenings*, comes to the Dance Limerick Space from 31 August – 14 September.
Created by John Galvin, Visual Artist, John Greenwood, Sonic Artist and Mark Carberry, Choreographer, Palimpsest comprises both a large-scale multimedia installation and two unique choreographed performance evenings. The architectural space of Dance Limerick (St John’s Church) is re-imagined as a recording device, one that has stored traces of the memories and experiences of the inhabitants of Limerick City. These fragments of memory are then ‘released’ from the walls through an immersive and multi-layered audio visual experience.
*Additional live improvised dance performances by London-based dance artist Alexandra Baybutt have been scheduled as follows:
Fri 12th Sept, 5pm, €6.00
Sat 13th Sept, 11am, €6.00
These are in addition to the finale, which takes place on
Sun 14th Sept, 6.00pm, €10.00
Presented in association with Limerick City of Culture under the Made in Limerick strand.
